Dr. Maria Frexes received her medical degree in 1982 from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She performed her internship and residency in General Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She completed her Ph.D. degree at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics in 1990. Subsequently she spent three years performing Surgical Oncology Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she received the American College of Surgeons Research Fellowship from 1990 to 1992.

 

 

Dr. Frexes is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgery, Tennessee Medical Association, Nashville Academy of Medicine, Southeastern Surgical Society and The Nashville Surgical Society. Dr. Frexes is active on the Board of Tennessee Women in Medicine. Dr. Frexes has surgical privileges at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital (formerly Baptist Hospital), Centennial Medical Center, Saint Thomas West Hospital (formerly Saint Thomas Hospital) and Vanderbilt University Hospital.
